Key features of the EMU Black include its ability to control fueling, ignition, and auxiliary systems for engines ranging from 1 to 12 cylinders. This includes engines with drive-by-wire throttles and variable valve timing (VVT) technology. The system boasts the capability to directly drive up to 6 passive or 12 smart coils without the need for external amplifiers or power modules.
One of its standout features is the sophisticated drive-by-wire throttle control, offering a broad scope of throttle manipulation, coupled with advanced error checking mechanisms to ensure safety.
The EMU Black's capabilities are ever-expanding, thanks to easily accessible firmware updates that are provided free of charge. These updates introduce new features like advanced strategies, trigger patterns, and CAN data streams.

Unique among many ECUs on the same price tag, the EMU Black integrates a wideband lambda input (direct compatibility with Bosch LSU 4.2 and LSU 4.9 sensors), a MAP control connector with an onboard 4 bar MAP sensor, dual EGT probe inputs, and a direct connection for a Flex Fuel ethanol content sensor.
This integration not only enhances flexibility but also reduces costs and eliminates the need for external signal conditioning control systems and the complex wiring often required by other management systems.
